A typical Friday
I sleep late, like at 4. I wake up at 11:30 in a panicked state. I power-walk to class listening to Irish folk (don’t ask). I get there and I find out that we’re finally starting a new topic (yay, multivar!)
Somebody convinces me to go to a Kazakh concert. I say no. They bring me lunch. DONE, Kazakh concert it is! Kazakh people are amazing. They look Wasian, speak with what heavily resembles a Russian accent, and wear Turkish clothing. Also, their music is beautiful.
Leaving the concert, we get a text. James Franco may or may not be in Northern Lights. Northern Lights? That’s not too far out of our way. Why not Northern lights? So then we go to Northern Lights. ‘Lo and behold, the mythical James Franco sitting with this smug hipster friends.
Who shall approach him? Only the venerable Sophia had the courage to approach this majestic creature. Was he James Franco? The closer we got, the more apparent it was that he was James Franco.

This may be a subpar picture but it’s still a picture of me with James Franco.
Edit: I should explain the context. At any given time, there are a handful of pretty well-known celebrities and athletes at UCLA. The usuals include James Franco and Adam Sandler. Recently, we’ve had Tim Tebow and Philip Rivers. Two weeks ago, Parks & Rec. was shooting here, etc.

What the hell did I just do?
A floormate of mine just burst into my room. He’s like, “OH GOD HELP ME MY EARS!”
So I asked him, “What happened?”
“I was sleeping on my earbuds and I tried to yank it out and one earbud went all the way inside my ear. Can you see it?”
o.o
And that’s how I ended up extracting an enormous elastic plastic thing through a canal half of its size using tweezers (Thanks John!) and a worklamp (why do we have all these things?!).
Yeah, I’m traumatized.

“From this point forward, we will be studying Organic Chemistry.”
Says my professor. And then the class cheers in approval.

I saw a girl IV training for Pokemon Ruby on an emulator. I didn’t know anyone ever seriously attempted IV training until today.

The tughra (calligraphic monogram, seal or signature) of Sultan Mahmud II of the Ottoman Empire. It reads Mahmud Khan son of Abdülhamid is forever victorious. Written out:
- محمود خان بن عبدالحميد مظفر دائماً
I was reading up on calligraphy around the world. This is amazing.

So, how do you feel now that you aren't an engineer anymore?
- N*****: I feel dumber. I can't describe it. Like, I felt enlightened before.
- Sami: What do you mean?
- N*****: Someone once said that there aren't "AP Classes" in college. But Engineering classes ARE like the AP Classes of college.
